About
Chun-Syuan Wei is a Taiwanese pianist, educator, and performer-scholar based in the United States.
As a pianist, Wei has performed in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Taiwan in solo, chamber, and collaborative settings. His work brings together performance, teaching, and research, with a particular interest in music as a form of language, memory, and human connection.
Wei holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance from the University of North Texas and a Master of Music degree from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in the United Kingdom. His doctoral research focused on Sir Stephen Hough’s Piano Sonata No. 1 (broken branches), exploring the relationship between notation, imagination, and performance.
His musical development has been shaped by studies in Taiwan, the United Kingdom, and the United States, as well as mentorship from pianists Pei-Chun Liao, Anthony Hewitt, Victor Sangiorgio, Gustavo Romero, Liudmila Georgievskaya, and Thomas Schwan.
In addition to performing, Wei is an active educator and collaborative pianist. He has worked with instrumentalists, vocalists, ensembles, composers, and interdisciplinary artists. His teaching emphasizes technical foundation, musical understanding, and the development of each student’s individual artistic voice.
